Another disgraceful snub for Sheila Doone
As
media pressure over Sheila Doone's story intensifies her MP, Gordon
Prentice, has suffered an amazing memory loss and seeks to "cut
that Graham Smith out of this"
After Mediaworld secured extensive national Press coverage for Sheila's
plight over not being allowed to marry her partner Ernest Green,
the MP, well known for his love of rambling, telephoned her for
the first time.
This was after I had telephoned his constituency office in Nelson
many times, left messages on his voicemail and delivered a copy
of the original story personally to his home in Barnoldswick, Lancashire,
just a few miles from Sheila's home.
Mr Prentice has known me for several years and I am producing remarkable
evidence here which shows his involvement with the situation so
far. It shows that he wrote personally tp me and in fact it shows
that his involvement came after John Prescott's refusal to become
involved because Mrs Doone was not his constituent, a view he persists
with to this day.
It further shows Mr Prentice's claim that he never received the
request from the Deputy Prime Minister's office to look at the case.
In his brief telephone call to Sheila he asked: "Who is this
Graham Smith? I don't know him" and towards the end of the
conversation he said: "We must cut this Graham Smith out of
it"
Really Mr Prentice, I think it's a bit late for that. All I have
asked is that you give the same zeal to the campaign for Sheila
and Ernest to marry, and for her to receive her pension, that you
give to rambler's rights and fox hunting on your personal web site.
You, and Mr Prescott, have had an invitation to contact me, and
the couple, for several days now. You have not responded to responsible
pieces of journalism on this web site and in the national Press
and now you are seeking to play silly games with a bizarre and tragic
situation.
The fact remains that you and Mr Prescott have been aware of the
refusal to allow Sheila and Ernest to remarry since the end of 2000.
You have done precisely nothing apart from exacerbate the situation.
I produce here letters from you to me, John Prescott to me, and
Ruth Kelly MP at the Treasury to you.
My invitation to you, with Sheila Doone's approval, was to have
an "on the record" meeting about the situation. I assume
your memory loss means you refuse that. If you are still having
trouble remembering me click
